But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and gently took her by the hand, and the girl got up.

They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised.” And they became greatly distressed.

They will flog him severely ¹  and kill him. Yet ²  on the third day he will rise again.”

This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

All ¹  those who lived in Lydda ²  and Sharon ³  saw him, and they ⁴  turned ⁵  to the Lord.

but ¹  God raised him up on the third day and caused him to be seen, ² 

For sin, seizing the opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it I died. ¹ 

Last of all, as though to one born at the wrong time, ¹  he appeared to me also.

Fool! What you sow will not come to life unless it dies.

It is the same with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. ¹ 

So then whether we are alive ¹  or away, we make it our ambition to please him. ² 

The ¹  beast that was, and is not, is himself an eighth king and yet is one of the seven, and is going to destruction.

Later Moses sought diligently for the sin offering male goat, ¹  but it had actually been burnt. ²  So he became angry at Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s remaining sons, saying,

“‘As for ¹  the ones who remain among you, I will bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a blowing leaf will pursue them, and they will flee as one who flees the sword and fall down even though there is no pursuer.

When the Lord raised up leaders for them, the Lord was with each leader and delivered the people ¹  from their enemies while the leader remained alive. The Lord felt sorry for them ²  when they cried out in agony because of what their harsh oppressors did to them. ³ 

The king asked, “Is there not someone left from Saul’s family, ¹  that I may extend God’s kindness to him?” Ziba said to the king, “One of Jonathan’s sons is left; both of his feet are crippled.”

The other woman said, “No! My son is alive; your son is dead!” But the first woman replied, “No, your son is dead; my son is alive.” Each presented her case before the king. ¹ 

I will put tendons ¹  on you and muscles over you and will cover you with skin; I will put breath ²  in you and you will live. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

So the saying circulated ¹  among the brothers and sisters ²  that this disciple was not going to die. But Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but rather, “If I want him to live ³  until I come back, ⁴  what concern is that of yours?”

Saul said, “Let’s go down after the Philistines at night; we will rout ¹  them until the break of day. ²  We won’t leave any of them alive!” ³  They replied, “Do whatever seems best to you.” ⁴  But the priest said, “Let’s approach God here.”
