The earth yields its crops. May God, our God, bless us!

Then Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and gave up his spirit.

Other seed fell among the thorns, ¹  and they grew up and choked it, ²  and it did not produce grain.

But other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.

But ¹  other seed fell on good soil and produced grain, sprouting and growing; some yielded thirty times as much, some sixty, and some a hundred times.”

They cultivated ¹  fields, and planted vineyards, which yielded a harvest of fruit. ² 

On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony – and ¹  the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted, and brought forth buds, and produced blossoms, and yielded almonds! ² 

But ¹  other seed fell on good soil and grew, ²  and it produced a hundred times as much grain.” ³  As he said this, ⁴  he called out, “The one who has ears to hear had better listen!” ⁵ 

He then ¹  told them a parable: ²  “The land of a certain rich man produced ³  an abundant crop,

Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed, ¹  “Praised be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent forth his angel ²  and has rescued his servants who trusted in him, ignoring ³  the edict of the king and giving up their bodies rather than ⁴  serve or pay homage to any god other than their God!

The seed is still in the storehouse, isn’t it? And the vine, fig tree, pomegranate, and olive tree have not produced. Nevertheless, from today on I will bless you.’”

Foreigners are powerless before me; ¹  when they hear of my exploits, they submit to me. ² 

You make me happier ¹  than those who have abundant grain and wine. ²

(May those who hate the Lord ¹  cower in fear ²  before him! May they be permanently humiliated!) ³ 

Peter began to speak to him, “Look, ¹  we have left everything to follow you!” ² 

Then ¹  he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land sprouted with a harvest.

He built a hedge around it, ¹  removed its stones, and planted a vine. He built a tower in the middle of it, and constructed a winepress. He waited for it to produce edible grapes, but it produced sour ones instead. ² 

“Very well,” he replied, ¹  “I will grant this request too ²  and will not overthrow ³  the town you mentioned.

When Jacob finished giving these instructions to his sons, he pulled his feet up onto the bed, breathed his last breath, and went ¹  to his people.
