By David. Do not fret ²  when wicked men seem to succeed! ³  Do not envy evildoers!

I hate the mob ¹  of evil men, and do not associate ²  with the wicked.

Sinful rebels are totally destroyed; ¹  evil men have no future. ² 

Then I will teach ¹  rebels your merciful ways, ²  and sinners will turn ³  to you.

Hide me from the plots of evil men, from the crowd of evildoers. ¹ 

For I envied those who are proud, as I observed ¹  the prosperity ²  of the wicked.

One who acts wickedly ¹  pays attention to evil counsel; ²  a liar listens ³  to a malicious tongue. ⁴ 

Gilead is a city full of evildoers; ¹  its streets are stained with bloody footprints! ² 

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, ¹  practicing homosexuals, ² 

“Surely, God does not reject a blameless man, ¹  nor does he grasp the hand ²  of the evildoers.

There are those ¹  who rebel against the light; they do not know its ways and they do not stay on its paths.

or to governors as those he commissions ¹  to punish wrongdoers and praise ²  those who do good.

But ¹  evil men will die; the Lord’s enemies will be incinerated ²  – they will go up in smoke. ³ 

But ¹  he will reply, ²  ‘I don’t know where you come from! ³  Go away from me, all you evildoers!’ ⁴ 

I have ¹  a hope in God (a hope ²  that ³  these men ⁴  themselves accept too) that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. ⁵ 

For by speaking high-sounding but empty words ¹  they are able to entice, ²  with fleshly desires and with debauchery, ³  people ⁴  who have just escaped ⁵  from those who reside in error. ⁶ 

‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in loyal love, ¹  forgiving iniquity and transgression, ²  but by no means clearing ³  the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children until the third and fourth generations.’ ⁴ 

I sent him ¹  against a godless ²  nation, I ordered him to attack the people with whom I was angry, ³  to take plunder and to carry away loot, to trample them down ⁴  like dirt in the streets.

Israel was set apart to the Lord; they were like the first fruits of a harvest to him. ¹  All who tried to devour them were punished; disaster came upon them,” says the Lord.’”

so that you may be like ¹  your Father in heaven, since he causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
