So then, ¹  God ²  has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens whom he chooses to harden. ³ 

You ought to say instead, ¹  “If the Lord is willing, then we will live and do this or that.”

It is one and the same Spirit, distributing as he decides to each person, who produces all these things.

but said farewell to ¹  them and added, ²  “I will come back ³  to you again if God wills.” ⁴  Then ⁵  he set sail from Ephesus,

But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I will find out not only the talk of these arrogant people, but also their power.

In the day he divides his inheritance ¹  he must not appoint as firstborn the son of the favorite wife in place of the other ²  wife’s son who is actually the firstborn.

So then, ¹  it does not depend on human desire or exertion, ²  but on God who shows mercy.

For whoever does the will of God is ¹  my brother and sister and mother.”

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

But I see a different law in my members waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that is in my members.

Praise the Lord, all you warriors of his, ¹  you servants of his who carry out his desires! ² 

But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts. They have turned aside and gone their own way. ¹ 

Then a powerful king ¹  will arise, exercising great authority and doing as he pleases.

So, I find the law that when I want to do good, evil is present with me.

For it is better to suffer for doing good, if God wills it, ¹  than for doing evil.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father. ¹  No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son decides ²  to reveal him.

The king’s heart ¹  is in the hand ²  of the Lord like channels of water; ³  he turns it wherever he wants.

For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, ¹  so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes. ² 

in that he spends the rest of his time ¹  on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.

All things have been given to me by my Father. ¹  No one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son decides ²  to reveal him.”
