May their dining table become a trap before them! May it be a snare for that group of friends! ¹ 

A trap ¹  seizes him by the heel; a snare ²  grips him.

A rope is hidden for him ¹  on the ground and a trap for him ²  lies on the path.

Does a bird swoop down into a trap on the ground if there is no bait? Does a trap spring up from the ground unless it has surely caught something?

And David says, “Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them;

Then the Pharisees ¹  went out and planned together to entrap him with his own words. ² 

Then ¹  they sent some of the Pharisees ²  and Herodians ³  to trap him with his own words. ⁴ 

“Indeed, there are wicked scoundrels among my people. They lie in wait like bird catchers hiding in ambush. ¹  They set deadly traps ²  to catch people.

I set a trap for you, Babylon; you were caught before you knew it. You fought against me. So you were found and captured. ¹ 

He will become a sanctuary, ¹  but a stone that makes a person trip, and a rock that makes one stumble – to the two houses of Israel. ²  He will become ³  a trap and a snare to the residents of Jerusalem. ⁴ 

Protect me from the snare they have laid for me, and the traps the evildoers have set. ¹ 

Thus ¹  they were unable in the presence of the people to trap ²  him with his own words. ³  And stunned ⁴  by his answer, they fell silent.

And he must be well thought of by ¹  those outside the faith, ²  so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap. ³ 

“But be on your guard ¹  so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day close down upon you suddenly like a trap. ² 

he digs a pit ¹  and then falls into the hole he has made. ² 

I did not harm them, but they hid a net to catch me and dug a pit to trap me. ¹ 

for the Lord will be ¹  the source of your confidence, ²  and he will guard your foot ³  from being caught in a trap. ⁴ 

It is a snare ¹  for a person ²  to rashly cry, ³  “Holy!” and only afterward to consider ⁴  what he has vowed. ⁵ 

Proud men hide a snare for me; evil men ¹  spread a net by the path; they set traps for me. (Selah)

Even when my strength leaves me, ¹  you watch my footsteps. ²  In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me.
