The brothers from there, ¹  when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius ²  and Three Taverns ³  to meet us. When he saw them, ⁴  Paul thanked God and took courage.

He ¹  fell with his face to the ground ²  at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. ³  (Now ⁴  he was a Samaritan.) ⁵ 

Then ¹  he placed his hands on her, and immediately ²  she straightened up and praised God.

Then Joab bowed down with his face toward the ground and thanked ¹  the king. Joab said, “Today your servant knows that I have found favor in your sight, my lord the king, because the king has granted the request of your ²  servant!”

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed ¹  from the heart that pattern ²  of teaching you were entrusted to,

Simeon ¹  took him in his arms and blessed God, saying, ² 

He won’t thank the slave because he did what he was told, ¹  will he? ² 

whose heart did not bless me ¹  as he warmed himself with the fleece of my sheep, ² 

But there will be delight ¹  for those who convict ²  the guilty, ³  and a pleasing blessing ⁴  will come on them.

“Blessed ¹  be the Lord God of Israel, because he has come to help ²  and has redeemed ³  his people.

Now when the centurion ¹  saw what had happened, he praised God and said, “Certainly this man was innocent!” ² 

If I partake with thankfulness, why am I blamed for the food ¹  that I give thanks for?

When Hezekiah and the officials came and saw the heaps, they praised the Lord and pronounced blessings on his people Israel. ¹ 

When ¹  the crowd saw this, they were afraid ²  and honored God who had given such authority to men. ³ 

he took the seven loaves and the fish, and after giving thanks, he broke them and began giving them to the disciples, who then gave them to the crowds. ¹ 

Then ¹  astonishment ²  seized them all, and they glorified ³  God. They were filled with awe, ⁴  saying, “We have seen incredible ⁵  things ⁶  today.” ⁷ 

When the Gentiles heard this, they began to rejoice ¹  and praise ²  the word of the Lord, and all who had been appointed for eternal life ³  believed.

When Gideon heard the report of the dream and its interpretation, he praised God. ¹  Then he went back to the Israelite camp and said, “Get up, for the Lord is handing the Midianite army over to you!”

Ruth ¹  knelt before him with her forehead to the ground ²  and said to him, “Why are you so kind ³  and so attentive to me, ⁴  even though ⁵  I am a foreigner?” ⁶ 

David praised the Lord before the entire assembly: ¹  “O Lord God of our father Israel, you deserve praise forevermore!
