For it is better to suffer for doing good, if God wills it, ¹  than for doing evil.

But first he must ¹  suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

They press out the olive oil between the rows of olive trees; ¹  they tread the winepresses while they are thirsty. ² 

For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.” ¹ 

And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired ¹  to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

Wasn’t ¹  it necessary ²  for the Christ ³  to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

But let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or criminal or as a troublemaker. ¹

that ¹  the Christ ²  was to suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, to proclaim light both to our people ³  and to the Gentiles.” ⁴ 

If someone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss. ¹  He himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

I am oppressed and have been on the verge of death since my youth. ¹  I have been subjected to your horrors and am numb with pain. ² 

So they left the council rejoicing because they had been considered worthy ¹  to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name. ² 

If one member suffers, everyone suffers with it. If a ¹  member is honored, all rejoice with it.

For it has been granted to you ¹  not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him,

For in fact when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we would suffer affliction, and so it has happened, as you well know. ¹ 

So then let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator as they do good. ¹ 

The one who puts up security for a stranger ¹  will surely have trouble, ²  but whoever avoids ³  shaking hands ⁴  will be secure.
