Has the Lord struck down Israel like he did their oppressors? ¹  Has Israel been killed like their enemies? ² 

¹ Seven full days passed ²  after the Lord struck ³  the Nile.

After about ten days the Lord struck Nabal down and he died.

we are persecuted, but not abandoned; ¹  we are knocked down, ²  but not destroyed,

When Jesus ¹  had said this, one of the high priest’s officers who stood nearby struck him on the face and said, ²  “Is that the way you answer the high priest?”

He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, including both men and animals.

He defeated many nations, and killed mighty kings –

The hail struck everything in the open fields, both ¹  people and animals, throughout all the land of Egypt. The hail struck everything that grows ²  in the field, and it broke all the trees of the field to pieces.

The Jews struck all their enemies with the sword, bringing death and destruction, and they did as they pleased with their enemies.

He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of their reproductive power. ¹ 

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,

They ¹  blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly, ²  “Prophesy! Who hit you?” ³ 

For by now I could have stretched out ¹  my hand and struck you and your people with plague, and you would have been destroyed ²  from the earth.
