But he forcefully commanded ¹  them not to tell this to anyone, ² 

But ¹  he sternly ordered them not to make him known. ² 

He strictly ordered that no one should know about this, ¹  and told them to give her something to eat.

Then ¹  he warned them not to tell anyone about him. ² 

Then someone from the army informed him, “Your father put the army under a strict oath ¹  saying, ‘Cursed be the man who eats food today!’ That is why the army is tired.”

They ¹  went ²  to the chief priests ³  and the elders and said, “We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath ⁴  not to partake ⁵  of anything until we have killed Paul.

But he sternly warned them not to make him known.

Then he instructed his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ. ¹ 

Everyone who does not observe both the law of your God and the law of the king will be completely ¹  liable to the appropriate penalty, whether it is death or banishment or confiscation of property or detainment in prison.”

saying, “We gave ¹  you strict orders ²  not to teach in this name. ³  Look, ⁴  you have filled Jerusalem ⁵  with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood ⁶  on us!”

“Let me pass through your land; I will keep strictly to the roadway. ¹  I will not turn aside to the right or the left.

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, ¹  because you know that we will be judged more strictly. ² 

Immediately Jesus ¹  sent the man ²  away with a very strong warning.

Any creature in the water that does not have both fins and scales is detestable to you.

if you carefully obey ¹  him ²  by keeping ³  all these commandments that I am giving ⁴  you today.

by serving other gods and worshiping them – the sun, ¹  moon, or any other heavenly bodies which I have not permitted you to worship. ² 

And the Lord said, “This is how the people of Israel will eat their unclean food among the nations ¹  where I will banish them.”

“I am a Jew, ¹  born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up ²  in this city, educated with strictness ³  under ⁴  Gamaliel ⁵  according to the law of our ancestors, ⁶  and was ⁷  zealous ⁸  for God just as all of you are today.

Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for Joseph ¹  had made the Israelites solemnly swear, ²  “God will surely attend ³  to you, and you will carry ⁴  my bones up from this place with you.”

You yourselves must obey ¹  my statutes and my regulations and must not do any of these abominations, both the native citizen and the resident foreigner in your midst, ²
