who plan ways to harm me. ¹  All day long they stir up conflict. ² 

In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal ¹  your power! Come and deliver us! ² 

The Beloved to the Maidens: I admonish you, O maidens ¹  of Jerusalem: “Do not ²  arouse or awaken love until it pleases!”

Is it not fierce ¹  when it is awakened? Who is he, then, who can stand before it? ² 

Look, I am stirring up the Medes to attack them; ¹  they are not concerned about silver, nor are they interested in gold. ² 

Indeed, as long as I am in this tabernacle, ¹  I consider it right to stir you up by way of a reminder,

The Lord’s spirit began to control him ¹  in Mahaneh Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Upright men are appalled ¹  at this; the innocent man is troubled ²  with the godless.

A gentle response ¹  turns away anger, but a harsh word ²  stirs up wrath. ³ 

And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works, ¹ 

They are all like bakers, ¹  they ²  are like a smoldering oven; they are like a baker who does not stoke the fire until the kneaded dough is ready for baking.

Yet he is compassionate. He forgives sin and does not destroy. He often holds back his anger, and does not stir up his fury. ¹

Rouse yourself, wake up ¹  and vindicate me! ²  My God and Lord, defend my just cause! ³ 

“I will provoke civil strife in Egypt, ¹  brothers will fight with each other, as will neighbors, cities, and kingdoms. ² 

The Lord says, “I will cause a destructive wind ¹  to blow against ²  Babylon and the people who inhabit Babylonia. ³ 

An angry person ¹  stirs up dissension, and a wrathful person ²  is abounding in transgression. ³ 

Now I will tell you the truth.“Three ¹  more kings will arise for Persia. Then a fourth ²  king will be unusually rich, ³  more so than all who preceded him. When he has amassed power through his riches, he will stir up everyone against ⁴  the kingdom of Greece.

He will rouse his strength and enthusiasm ¹  against the king of the south ²  with a large army. The king of the south will wage war with a large and very powerful army, but he will not be able to prevail because of the plans devised against him.
