Whoever hides her hides the wind ¹  or grasps ²  oil with his right hand. ³ 

In light of all this, ¹  how can you still hold back, Lord? How can you be silent and continue to humiliate us?

For the sake of my reputation ¹  I hold back my anger; for the sake of my prestige ²  I restrain myself from destroying you. ³ 

“Therefore, ¹  I will not refrain my mouth; ²  I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain ³  in the bitterness of my soul.

After that a voice roars; he thunders with an exalted voice, and he does not hold back his lightning bolts ¹  when his voice is heard.

God does not restrain his anger; ¹  under him the helpers of Rahab ²  lie crushed. ³ 

Do not wear yourself out to become rich; be wise enough to restrain yourself. ¹ 

You ¹  should tell him that I am about to judge his house forever because of ²  the sin that he knew about. For his sons were cursing God, ³  and he did not rebuke them.

“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” ¹ 

Certainly ¹  your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; ²  you reveal your anger in full measure. ³ 

A person’s wisdom ¹  makes him slow to anger, ²  and it is his glory ³  to overlook ⁴  an offense.

He lived among the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain.

Even by saying ¹  these things, they scarcely persuaded ²  the crowds not to offer sacrifice to them.

You are like a wild female donkey brought up in the wilderness. In her lust she sniffs the wind to get the scent of a male. ¹  No one can hold her back when she is in heat. None of the males need wear themselves out chasing after her. At mating time she is easy to find. ² 

Just as no one has power over the wind to restrain it, ¹  so no one has power over the day of his ²  death. Just as no one can be discharged during the battle, ³  so wickedness cannot rescue the wicked. ⁴ 

The Lord says to her, ¹  “Stop crying! Do not shed any more tears! ²  For your heartfelt repentance ³  will be rewarded. Your children will return from the land of the enemy. I, the Lord, affirm it! ⁴ 

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said, ¹  “Here is the man that I told you about! He will rule over my people.”

I have told the great assembly ¹  about your justice. ²  Look! I spare no words! ³  O Lord, you know this is true.

When his family ¹  heard this they went out to restrain him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”

Would not his splendor ¹  terrify ²  you and the fear he inspires ³  fall on you?
