“You shall not commit adultery. ¹ 

You must not commit adultery.

The Word ¹  was with God in the beginning.

Now yes, it is true that ¹  I am a guardian, ²  but there is another guardian who is a closer relative than I am.

The ¹  master commended the dishonest ²  manager because he acted shrewdly. ³  For the people ⁴  of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their contemporaries ⁵  than the people ⁶  of light.

“To these the land must be divided as an inheritance according to the number of the names.

Then you will understand ¹  righteousness and justice and equity – every ²  good ³  way. ⁴ 

“I, wisdom, live with prudence, ¹  and I find ²  knowledge and discretion.

Riches and honor are with me, long-lasting wealth and righteousness.

I walk in the path of righteousness, in the pathway of justice,

Treasures gained by wickedness ¹  do not profit, but righteousness ²  delivers from mortal danger. ³ 

Righteousness ¹  guards the one who lives with integrity, ²  but wickedness ³  overthrows the sinner.

Righteousness exalts ¹  a nation, but sin is a disgrace ²  to any people.

Better to have a little with righteousness ¹  than to have abundant income without justice. ² 

Gray hair is like ¹  a crown of glory; ²  it is attained ³  in the path of righteousness. ⁴ 

Justice will settle down in the desert and fairness will live in the orchard. ¹ 

and said to Jesus, ¹  “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery.

For none of us lives for himself and none dies for himself.

The guardian said, “Then I am unable to redeem it, for I would ruin my own inheritance ¹  in that case. You may exercise my redemption option, for I am unable to redeem it.” ² 

“‘No man is to approach any close relative ¹  to have sexual intercourse with her. ²  I am the Lord. ³
