But ever since we stopped sacrificing and pouring out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven, we have been in great need. Our people have died in wars or of starvation.” ¹ 

When ¹  she poured this oil on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.

You are to make its plates, ¹  its ladles, ²  its pitchers, and its bowls, to be used in pouring out offerings; ³  you are to make them of pure gold.

But Hannah replied, “That’s not the way it is, ¹  my lord! I am under a great deal of stress. ²  I have drunk neither wine nor beer. Rather, I have poured out my soul to ³  the Lord.

He ¹  went up to him ²  and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil ³  and wine on them. Then ⁴  he put him on ⁵  his own animal, ⁶  brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

He made the vessels which were on the table out of pure gold, its ¹  plates, its ladles, its pitchers, and its bowls, to be used in pouring out offerings.

So she left him and closed the door behind her and her sons. As they were bringing the containers to her, she was pouring the olive oil.

The women added, ¹  “We did indeed sacrifice and pour out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven. But it was with the full knowledge and approval of our husbands that we made cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her.” ² 

While they were striking them down, I was left alone, and I threw myself face down and cried out, “Ah, sovereign Lord! Will you destroy the entire remnant of Israel when you pour out your fury on Jerusalem?”

“You who force your neighbor to drink wine ¹  are as good as dead ²  – you who make others intoxicated by forcing them to drink from the bowl of your furious anger, ³  so you can look at their genitals. ⁴ 

Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, acknowledging his name.

with the best ¹  of the ancient mountains and the harvest produced by the age-old hills;

with all humility and gentleness, ¹  with patience, bearing with ²  one another in love,

You have not yet resisted to the point of bloodshed ¹  in your struggle against sin.

“On the table of the presence ¹  they must spread a blue ²  cloth, and put on it the dishes, the pans, the bowls, and the pitchers for pouring, and the Bread of the Presence must be on it continually.

It will spill into Judah, flooding and engulfing, as it reaches to the necks of its victims. He will spread his wings out over your entire land, ¹  O Immanuel.” ² 

You are to take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him. ¹ 

For they say cruel and deceptive things to me; they lie to me. ¹ 

From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. These things should not be so, my brothers and sisters. ¹ 

His ¹  head and hair were as white as wool, even as white as snow, ²  and his eyes were like a fiery ³  flame.
