When your people ¹  come to their senses ²  in the land where they are held prisoner, they will repent and beg for your mercy in the land of their imprisonment, admitting, ‘We have sinned and gone astray; ³  we have done evil.’

May the arrogant be humiliated, for they have slandered me! ¹  But I meditate on your precepts.

to deliver ¹  you from the way of the wicked, ²  from those ³  speaking perversity, ⁴ 

If the wicked are shown mercy, they do not learn about justice. ¹  Even in a land where right is rewarded, they act unjustly; ²  they do not see the Lord’s majesty revealed.

The one who conducts himself ¹  in integrity ²  will live ³  securely, but the one who behaves perversely ⁴  will be found out.

we have sinned! We have done what is wrong and wicked; we have rebelled by turning away from your commandments and standards.

The Lord spoke to Moses: “Go quickly, descend, ¹  because your ²  people, whom you brought up from the land of Egypt, have acted corruptly.

I declared them to be defiled because of their sacrifices ¹  – they caused all their first born to pass through the fire ²  – so that I would devastate them, so that they will know that I am the Lord.’ ³ 

He said to the king, “Don’t think badly of me, my lord, and don’t recall the sin of your servant on the day when you, my lord the king, left ¹  Jerusalem! ²  Please don’t call it to mind!
