For this reason also I wrote you: ¹  to test you to see ²  if you are obedient in everything.

If you have a willing attitude and obey, ¹  then you will again eat the good crops of the land.

Remind them to be subject to rulers and ¹  authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work.

Like obedient children, do not comply with ¹  the evil urges you used to follow in your ignorance, ² 

He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross!

The word of God continued to spread, ¹  the number of disciples in Jerusalem ²  increased greatly, and a large group ³  of priests became obedient to the faith.

Then ¹  he went down with them and came to Nazareth, ²  and was obedient ³  to them. But ⁴  his mother kept all these things ⁵  in her heart. ⁶ 

He took the Book of the Covenant ¹  and read it aloud ²  to the people, and they said, “We are willing to do and obey ³  all that the Lord has spoken.”

Then you must delegate ¹  some of your authority ²  to him, so that the whole community of the Israelites will be obedient. ³ 

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed ¹  from the heart that pattern ²  of teaching you were entrusted to,

Slaves, ¹  obey your human masters ²  with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart as to Christ,

Foreigners are powerless before me; ¹  when they hear of my exploits, they submit to me. ² 

Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold, ¹  so is a wise reprover to the ear of the one who listens. ² 

Slaves ¹  are to be subject to their own masters in everything, ²  to do what is wanted and not talk back,

Who handed Jacob over to the robber? Who handed Israel over to the looters? ¹  Was it not the Lord, against whom we sinned? They refused to follow his commands; they disobeyed his law. ² 

Do you not know that if you present yourselves ¹  as obedient slaves, ²  you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness? ³ 

according to the foreknowledge of God the Father by being set apart by the Spirit for obedience and for sprinkling ¹  with Jesus Christ’s blood. May grace and peace be yours in full measure! ² 

Just like the nations the Lord is about to destroy from your sight, so he will do to you ¹  because you would not obey him. ² 

For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in order to bring about the obedience ¹  of the Gentiles, by word and deed,

to be self-controlled, ¹  pure, fulfilling their duties at home, ²  kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the message ³  of God may not be discredited. ⁴
