Once more I looked, and this time I saw four chariots emerging from between two mountains of bronze. ¹ 

“As for you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say: ‘O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord!

you mountains and all you hills, you fruit trees and all you cedars,

with the best ¹  of the ancient mountains and the harvest produced by the age-old hills;

He who removes mountains suddenly, ¹  who overturns them in his anger; ² 

On the flinty rock man has set to work ¹  with his hand; he has overturned mountains at their bases. ² 

The mountains will bring news of peace to the people, and the hills will announce justice. ¹ 

The watery deep covered it ¹  like a garment; the waters reached ²  above the mountains. ³ 

The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. ¹ 

Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills?

O Lord, make the sky sink ¹  and come down! ²  Touch the mountains and make them smolder! ³ 

before the mountains were set in place – before the hills – I was born,

I will make all my mountains into a road; I will construct my roadways.”

(63:19b) ¹  If only you would tear apart the sky ²  and come down! The mountains would tremble ³  before you!

You created the mountains by your power, ¹  and demonstrated your strength. ² 

You shine brightly and reveal your majesty, as you descend from the hills where you killed your prey. ¹ 

for all the tall mountains, for all the high hills, ¹ 

Every ¹  island fled away ²  and no mountains could be found. ³ 

as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down – to the place you appointed for them. ¹ 

The waters rose more than twenty feet ¹  above the mountains. ²
