“People ¹  listened to me and waited silently; ²  they kept silent for my advice.

Moses listened to ¹  his father-in-law and did everything he had said.

Look, I waited for you to speak; ¹  I listened closely to your wise thoughts, ² while you were searching for words.

You must pay attention to the exhortations of my servants the prophets. I have sent them to you over and over again. ¹  But you have not paid any attention to them.

For they have not paid attention to what I said to them through my servants the prophets whom I sent to them over and over again,’ ¹  says the Lord. ²  ‘And you exiles ³  have not paid any attention to them either,’ says the Lord. ⁴
