All flesh is not the same: People have one flesh, animals have another, birds and fish another. ¹ 

For the fate of humans ¹  and the fate of animals are the same: As one dies, so dies the other; both have the same breath. There is no advantage for humans over animals, for both are fleeting.

“Whoever sheds human blood, ¹  by other humans ²  must his blood be shed; for in God’s image ³  God ⁴  has made humankind.”

Stop trusting in human beings, whose life’s breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration?

“Do you have eyes of flesh, ¹  or do you see ²  as a human being sees? ³ 

But man ¹  dies and is powerless; ²  he expires – and where is he? ³ 

how much less man, who is abominable and corrupt, ¹  who drinks in evil like water! ² 

Why should any living person ¹  complain when punished for his sins? ² 

John’s baptism – was it from heaven or from people? ¹  Answer me.”

He replied, “What is impossible ¹  for mere humans ²  is possible for God.”

The Egyptians are mere humans, not God; their horses are made of flesh, not spirit. The Lord will strike with ¹  his hand; the one who helps will stumble and the one being helped will fall. Together they will perish. ² 

Look, all his associates ¹  will be put to shame; the craftsmen are mere humans. ²  Let them all assemble and take their stand! They will panic and be put to shame.

The Lord says, “I will put a curse on people who trust in mere human beings, who depend on mere flesh and blood for their strength, ²  and whose hearts ³  have turned away from the Lord.

“Is ¹  a mortal man ²  righteous ³  before ⁴  God? Or a man pure ⁵  before his Creator? ⁶ 

Of what importance is the human race, ¹  that you should notice ²  them? Of what importance is mankind, ³  that you should pay attention to them, ⁴ 

O Lord, of what importance is the human race, ¹  that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, ²  that you should be concerned about them? ³ 

Their life’s breath departs, they return to the ground; on that day their plans die. ¹ 

Death and Destruction ¹  are before the Lord – how much more ²  the hearts of humans! ³ 

All a person’s ways ¹  seem right ²  in his own opinion, ³  but the Lord evaluates ⁴  the motives. ⁵
