The sovereign Lord showed me this: I saw ¹  him making locusts just as the crops planted late ²  were beginning to sprout. (The crops planted late sprout after the royal harvest. ³ )

When the hay is removed and new grass appears, and the grass from the hills is gathered in,

So neither the one who plants counts for anything, ¹  nor the one who waters, but God who causes the growth.

I planted, ¹  Apollos watered, but God caused it to grow.

You saturate ¹  its furrows, and soak ²  its plowed ground. ³  With rain showers you soften its soil, ⁴  and make its crops grow. ⁵ 

He has not held fast ¹  to the head from whom the whole body, supported ²  and knit together through its ligaments and sinews, grows with a growth that is from God. ³ 

May he increase your numbers, yours and your children’s! ¹ 

The one who speaks in a tongue builds himself up, ¹  but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

From him the whole body grows, fitted and held together ¹  through every supporting ligament. ²  As each one does its part, the body grows in love.

My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, ¹  as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.

For the waters of Nimrim are gone; ¹  the grass is dried up, the vegetation has disappeared, and there are no plants.

And since I am sure of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for the sake of your progress ¹  and joy in the faith, ² 

for the swelling, ¹  for the scab, ²  and for the bright spot, ³ 

with the harvest produced by the daylight ¹  and by ²  the moonlight; ³

to satisfy a devastated and desolate land, and to cause it to sprout with vegetation? ¹ 

They bear fruit even when they are old; they are filled with vitality and have many leaves. ¹ 

May they be like the grass on the rooftops which withers before one can even pull it up, ¹ 

Other seeds fell among the thorns, ¹  and they grew up and choked them. ² 

The priest will then examine it, ¹  and if ²  a white swelling is on the skin, it has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling, ³
