But Sarah noticed ¹  the son of Hagar the Egyptian – the son whom Hagar had borne to Abraham – mocking. ² 

Carrying out a wicked scheme ¹  is enjoyable ²  to a fool, and so is wisdom for the one who has discernment. ³ 

Otherwise, ¹  when he has laid ²  a foundation and is not able to finish the tower, ³  all who see it ⁴  will begin to make fun of ⁵  him.

I wear sackcloth and they ridicule me. ¹ 

Fools mock ¹  at reparation, ²  but among the upright there is favor. ³ 

I said of partying, ¹  “It is folly,” and of self-indulgent pleasure, ²  “It accomplishes nothing!” ³ 

And they began making fun ¹  of him, because they knew ²  that she was dead. ³ 

Now ¹  the men who were holding Jesus ²  under guard began to mock him and beat him.

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, ¹ 

But others jeered at the speakers, ¹  saying, “They are drunk on new wine!” ² 

He went up from there to Bethel. ¹  As he was traveling up the road, some young boys ²  came out of the city and made fun of him, saying, “Go on up, baldy! Go on up, baldy!”

The messengers journeyed from city to city through the land of Ephraim and Manasseh as far as Zebulun, but people mocked and ridiculed them. ¹ 

All who see me taunt ¹  me; they mock me ²  and shake their heads. ³ 

You made us ¹  an object of disdain to our neighbors; those who live on our borders taunt and insult us. ² 

You have made our neighbors dislike us, ¹  and our enemies insult us.

Wine ¹  is a mocker ²  and strong drink is a brawler; whoever goes astray by them is not wise. ³ 

Do not speak in the ears of a fool, ¹  for he will despise the wisdom of your words. ² 

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of merrymaking. ¹ 

he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they began making fun of him. ¹ 

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence ¹  and gathered the whole cohort ²  around him.
