But they were indifferent and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.

The workers of the city from all the tribes of Israel will cultivate it.

At the designated time ¹  Cain brought some of the fruit of the ground for an offering ²  to the Lord.

He then ¹  told them a parable: ²  “The land of a certain rich man produced ³  an abundant crop,

“If my land cried out against me ²  and all its furrows wept together,

They experience his favor; ¹  their descendants ²  inherit the land. ³ 

Things will go better for the nation that submits to the yoke of servitude to ¹  the king of Babylon and is subject to him. I will leave that nation ²  in its native land. Its people can continue to farm it and live in it. I, the Lord, affirm it!”’” ³ 

Boaz asked ¹  his servant ²  in charge of the harvesters, “To whom does this young woman belong?” ³ 

But Naboth replied to Ahab, “The Lord forbid that I should sell you my ancestral inheritance.” ¹ 

There is abundant food in the field ¹  of the poor, but it is swept away by injustice. ² 

When you try to cultivate ¹  the ground it will no longer yield ²  its best ³  for you. You will be a homeless wanderer ⁴  on the earth.”

So all Israel had to go down to the Philistines in order to get their plowshares, cutting instruments, axes, and sickles ¹  sharpened.

you will be blessed, you who plant seed by all the banks of the streams, ¹  you who let your ox and donkey graze. ² 

Wild oxen will be slaughtered ¹  along with them, as well as strong bulls. ²  Their land is drenched with blood, their soil is covered with fat.

They are dismayed because the ground is cracked ¹  because there has been no rain in the land. The farmers, too, are dismayed and bury their faces in their hands.

Listen to the cattle groan! ¹  The herds of livestock wander around in confusion ²  because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are suffering.

Then the Lord took me from tending ¹  flocks and gave me this commission, ²  ‘Go! Prophesy to my people Israel!’

Instead he will say, ‘I am no prophet – indeed, I am a farmer, for a man has made me his indentured servant since my youth.’ ¹ 

For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t sit down ¹  first and compute the cost ²  to see if he has enough money to complete it?

(Now this man Judas ¹  acquired a field with the reward of his unjust deed, ²  and falling headfirst ³  he burst open in the middle and all his intestines ⁴  gushed out.
