He did not speak to them without a parable. But privately he explained everything to his own disciples.

But Peter began and explained it to them point by point, ¹  saying,

and when he had explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

He began to speak out fearlessly ¹  in the synagogue, ²  but when Priscilla and Aquila ³  heard him, they took him aside ⁴  and explained the way of God to him more accurately.

He inquired of Arioch the king’s deputy, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” ¹  Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter.

“I am the servant of Abraham,” he began.

Then the Lord said to me, ¹ 

They set ¹  a day to meet with him, ²  and they came to him where he was staying ³  in even greater numbers. ⁴  From morning until evening he explained things ⁵  to them, ⁶  testifying ⁷  about the kingdom of God ⁸  and trying to convince ⁹  them about Jesus from both the law of Moses and the prophets.

She cried on his shoulder ¹  until the party was almost over. ²  Finally, on the seventh day, he told her because she had nagged him so much. ³  Then she told the young men the solution to the riddle. ⁴ 

When Jacob explained ¹  to Rachel that he was a relative of her father ²  and the son of Rebekah, she ran and told her father.

They read from the book of God’s law, explaining it ¹  and imparting insight. Thus the people ²  gained understanding from what was read.

Then the man standing among the myrtle trees spoke up and said, “These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk about ¹  on the earth.”

Then ¹  beginning with Moses and all the prophets, ²  he interpreted to them the things written about ³  himself in all the scriptures.

They ¹  said to each other, “Didn’t ²  our hearts ³  burn within us ⁴  while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining ⁵  the scriptures to us?”

So Samson’s bride cried on his shoulder ¹  and said, “You must ²  hate me; you do not love me! You told the young men ³  a riddle, but you have not told me the solution.” He said to her, “Look, I have not even told my father or mother. Do you really expect me to tell you?” ⁴ 

The Lord’s spirit empowered him. He went down to Ashkelon and murdered thirty men. He took their clothes ¹  and gave them ²  to the men who had solved the riddle. He was furious as he went back home. ³ 

Then Samuel talked to the people about how the kingship would work. ¹  He wrote it all down on a scroll and set it before the Lord. Then Samuel sent all the people away to their homes.

You have explained today how you have treated me well. The Lord delivered me into your hand, but you did not kill me.

Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah – all of whom were Levites ¹  – were teaching the people the law, as the people remained standing.

They put him in custody, because there was no clear instruction about what should be done to him.
