In him was life, ¹  and the life was the light of mankind. ² 

With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing,” and that “there is no God but one.” ¹ 

All things were created ¹  by him, and apart from him not one thing was created ²  that has been created. ³ 

His memory perishes from the earth, he has no name in the land. ¹ 

For he spoke, and it ¹  came into existence, he issued the decree, ²  and it stood firm.

Jesus said to them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  before Abraham came into existence, ²  I am!” ³ 

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

¹ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn ²  over all creation, ³ 

He himself is before all things and all things are held together ¹  in him.

For they deliberately suppress this fact, ¹  that by the word of God ²  heavens existed long ago and an earth ³  was formed out of water and by means of water.

He remained in hiding in God’s temple ¹  for six years, while Athaliah was ruling over the land.

Or why ¹  was ²  I not buried ³  like a stillborn infant, ⁴  like infants ⁵  who have never seen the light? ⁶ 

I should have been as though I had never existed; ¹  I should have been carried right from the womb to the grave!

Take note of my brief lifespan! ¹  Why do you make all people so mortal? ² 

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he gave the command and they came into existence.

though it never saw the light of day ¹  nor knew anything, ²  yet it has more rest ³  than that man –

Whatever has happened is beyond human ¹  understanding; ²  it is far deeper than anyone can fathom. ³ 

For ¹  neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for ²  anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! ³ 

So with these things prepared like this, the priests enter continually into the outer tent ¹  as they perform their duties.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.
