This displeased Jonah terribly ¹  and he became very angry. ² 

I keep your rules; I love them greatly.

There are four things on earth that are small, ¹  but they are exceedingly wise: ² 

who rejoice ¹  even to jubilation, ²  and are exultant ³  when ⁴  they find the grave? ⁵ 

I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are beyond full comprehension. ¹ 

(Now ¹  the people ²  of Sodom were extremely wicked rebels against the Lord.) ³ 

They said to the whole community of the Israelites, “The land we passed through to investigate is an exceedingly ¹  good land.

Then I will confirm my covenant ¹  between me and you, and I will give you a multitude of descendants.” ² 

I will make you ¹  extremely ²  fruitful. I will make nations of you, and kings will descend from you. ³ 

In this way Jacob ¹  became extremely prosperous. He owned ²  large flocks, male and female servants, camels, and donkeys.

The Israelites, ¹  however, ²  were fruitful, increased greatly, multiplied, and became extremely strong, ³  so that the land was filled with them.

Solomon son of David solidified his royal authority, ¹  for ²  the Lord his God was with him and magnified him greatly.

unless ¹  you have utterly rejected us ²  and are angry with us beyond measure. ³ 

When they saw the star they shouted joyfully. ¹ 

But the godly ¹  are happy; they rejoice before God and are overcome with joy. ² 

In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving ¹  for meat; ²  they challenged God ³  in the desert.

Show us favor, O Lord, show us favor! For we have had our fill of humiliation, and then some. ¹ 

We have had our fill ¹  of the taunts of the self-assured, of the contempt of the proud.

Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they owned land there. They were fruitful and increased rapidly in number.

They were absolutely terrified ¹  and said, “Look, two kings could not stop him! ²  How can we?” ³
