Is there any falsehood ¹  on my lips? Can my mouth ²  not discern evil things? ³ 

Who can know all his errors? ¹  Please do not punish me for sins I am unaware of. ² 

It stands still, ¹  but I cannot recognize ²  its appearance; an image is before my eyes, and I hear a murmuring voice: ³ 

You hypocrites! ¹  You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how ²  to interpret the present time?

I wish that they were wise and could understand this, and that they could comprehend what will happen to them.”

To ¹  learn ²  wisdom ³  and moral instruction, ⁴  and to discern ⁵  wise counsel. ⁶ 

So give your servant a discerning mind ¹  so he can make judicial decisions for ²  your people and distinguish right from wrong. ³  Otherwise ⁴  no one is able ⁵  to make judicial decisions for ⁶  this great nation of yours.” ⁷ 

and in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, because the sky is red and darkening.’ ¹  You know how to judge correctly the appearance of the sky, ²  but you cannot evaluate the signs of the times.

that you may take them to their borders and perceive the pathways to their homes? ¹ 

Moreover, they will teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and show them how to distinguish between the ceremonially unclean and the clean. ¹ 

But solid food is for the mature, whose perceptions are trained by practice to discern both good and evil.

Let us evaluate ¹  for ourselves what is right; ²  let us come to know among ourselves what is good.

Then once more you will see that I make a distinction between ¹  the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves God and the one who does not.

trying to learn ¹  what is pleasing to the Lord.

You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives.

The wisdom of the shrewd person ¹  is to discern ²  his way, but the folly of fools is deception. ³ 

He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? Then ¹  how will you understand any parable?

The one who is spiritual discerns ¹  all things, yet he himself is understood ²  by no one.

So your servant said, ‘May the word of my lord the king be my security, for my lord the king is like the angel of God when it comes to deciding between right and wrong! May the Lord your God be with you!’”

I am presently eighty years old. Am I able to discern good and bad? Can I ¹  taste what I eat and drink? Am I still able to hear the voices of male and female singers? Why should I ²  continue to be a burden to my lord the king?
