You will break them ¹  with an iron scepter; ²  you will smash them like a potter’s jar!’” ³

The priest is to splash ¹  the blood on the altar ²  of the Lord at the entrance of the Meeting Tent, and offer the fat up in smoke for a soothing aroma to the Lord.

Instead, this is what you must do to them: You must tear down their altars, shatter their sacred pillars, ¹  cut down their sacred Asherah poles, ²  and burn up their idols.

and you are to kill the ram and take its blood and splash it all around on the altar.

“I said, ‘I want to cut them in pieces. ¹  I want to make people forget they ever existed.

Then you will walk on your way ¹  with security, and you ²  will not stumble. ³

Rather you must destroy their altars, smash their images, and cut down their Asherah poles. ¹
