For this finds God’s favor, ¹  if because of conscience toward God ²  someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.

Finally, brothers and sisters, ¹  whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.

Nevertheless, you did well to share with me in my trouble.

For what credit is it if you sin and are mistreated and endure it? But if you do good and suffer and so endure, this finds favor with God. ¹ 

The Lord grants success to the one whose behavior he finds commendable. ¹ 

However, it is good ¹  to be sought eagerly ²  for a good purpose ³  at all times, and not only when I am present with you.

Let each one examine ¹  his own work. Then he can take pride ²  in himself and not compare himself with ³  someone else.
