Even a fool who remains silent is considered ¹  wise, and the one who holds his tongue is deemed discerning. ² 

But whoever has the world’s possessions ¹  and sees his fellow Christian ²  in need and shuts off his compassion against him, how can the love of God ³  reside ⁴  in such a person? ⁵ 

My body ¹  is clothed ²  with worms ³  and dirty scabs; ⁴  my skin is broken ⁵  and festering.

If ¹  he tears down, it cannot be rebuilt; if he imprisons a person, there is no escape. ² 

The one who shuts his ears ¹  to the cry ²  of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered. ³ 

Yes, ¹  wild dogs surround me – a gang of evil men crowd around me; like a lion they pin my hands and feet. ² 

The one who gives to the poor will not lack, ¹  but whoever shuts his eyes to them ²  will receive ³  many curses. ⁴
