(Now Judas ¹  said this not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief. As keeper of the money box, ²  he used to steal what was put into it.) ³ 

I cared ¹  for you in the wilderness, in the dry desert where no water was. ² 

but from my youth I raised the orphan ¹  like a father, and from my mother’s womb ²  I guided the widow! ³ 

The next day we put in ¹  at Sidon, ²  and Julius, treating Paul kindly, ³  allowed him to go to his friends so they could provide him with what he needed. ⁴

They were not really committed to him, ¹  and they were unfaithful to his covenant.

If ¹  someone pampers his servant from youth, he will be a weakling ²  in the end.

Then the devil left him, and angels ¹  came and began ministering to his needs.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

For they loved praise ¹  from men more than praise ²  from God.
