Look ¹  at its strength in its loins, and its power in the muscles of its belly.

Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the stomach of the fish

Ehud reached with his left hand, pulled the sword from his right thigh, and drove it into Eglon’s ¹  belly.

The righteous has enough food to satisfy his appetite, ¹  but the belly of the wicked lacks food. ² 

As for that statue, its head was of fine gold, its chest and arms were of silver, its belly and thighs were of bronze.

You must not eat anything that crawls ¹  on its belly or anything that walks on all fours or on any number of legs ²  of all the swarming things that swarm on the land, because they are detestable.

Your navel ¹  is a round mixing bowl ²  – may it never lack ³  mixed wine! ⁴  Your belly ⁵  is a mound of wheat, encircled ⁶  by lilies.

“Does a wise man answer with blustery knowledge, ¹  or fill his belly ²  with the east wind? ³ 

Inside I am like wine which has no outlet, ¹  like new wineskins ²  ready to burst!

Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, they exult in their shame, and they think about earthly things. ¹ 

The handle went in after the blade, and the fat closed around the blade, for Ehud ¹  did not pull the sword out of his belly. ² 

and said, “I ¹  called out to the Lord from my distress, and he answered me; ²  from the belly of Sheol ³  I cried out for help, and you heard my prayer. ⁴ 

The Lord God said to the serpent, ¹  “Because you have done this, cursed ²  are you above all the wild beasts and all the living creatures of the field! On your belly you will crawl ³  and dust you will eat ⁴  all the days of your life.

They conceive ¹  trouble and bring forth evil; their belly ²  prepares deception.”

For we lie in the dirt, with our bellies pressed to the ground. ¹ 

“King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon devoured me and drove my people out. Like a monster from the deep he swallowed me. He filled his belly with my riches. He made me an empty dish. He completely cleaned me out.” ¹
