I, Daniel, watched as two others stood there, one on each side of the river. ¹ 

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “In my dream I was standing ¹  by the edge of the Nile.

He picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen off him, and went back and stood on the shore of the Jordan.

Why then didn’t you put ¹  my money in the bank, ²  so that when I returned I could have collected it with interest?’

When I had returned, I noticed ¹  a vast number of trees on the banks of the river, on both sides.

He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?” Then he led me back to the bank of the river.

On the twenty-fourth day of the first month ¹  I was beside the great river, the Tigris. ² 

Then seven bad-looking, thin cows were coming up after them from the Nile, ¹  and they stood beside the other cows at the edge of the river. ² 

Their territory extended ¹  from Aroer at the edge of the Arnon valley as far as Mount Siyon ²  – that is, Hermon –

So ¹  the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd of pigs ²  rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned.

Go to Pharaoh in the morning when ¹  he goes out to the water. Position yourself ²  to meet him by the edge of the Nile, ³  and take ⁴  in your hand the staff ⁵  that was turned into a snake.

Sell your possessions ¹  and give to the poor. ²  Provide yourselves purses that do not wear out – a treasure in heaven ³  that never decreases, ⁴  where no thief approaches and no moth ⁵  destroys.
