They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, because the crowds ¹  regarded him as a prophet.

They ¹  planned to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

Then ¹  they attempted ²  again to seize him, but he escaped their clutches. ³ 

Some of them were wanting to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him. ¹ 

The Pharisees ¹  heard the crowd ²  murmuring these things about Jesus, ³  so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers ⁴  to arrest him. ⁵ 

(Now the chief priests and the Pharisees ¹  had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus ²  was should report it, so that they could arrest ³  him.) ⁴ 

In Damascus, the governor ¹  under King Aretas was guarding the city of Damascus ²  in order to arrest ³  me,

At that moment Jesus said to the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? ¹  Day after day I sat teaching in the temple courts, yet ²  you did not arrest me.

(Now the betrayer ¹  had given them a sign, saying, “The one I kiss is the man. ²  Arrest him!”) ³ 

Jesus said to them, “Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? ¹ 

So then they tried to seize Jesus, ¹  but no one laid a hand on him, because his time ²  had not yet come.

(Now the betrayer ¹  had given them a sign, saying, “The one I kiss is the man. Arrest him and lead him away under guard.”) ² 

Day after day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, yet ¹  you did not arrest me. But this has happened so that ²  the scriptures would be fulfilled.”

When he saw that this pleased the Jews, ¹  he proceeded to arrest Peter too. (This took place during the feast of Unleavened Bread.) ² 

When Saul sent messengers to arrest David, she said, “He’s sick.”

He also ordered Jerahmeel, who was one of the royal princes, ¹  Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest the scribe Baruch and the prophet Jeremiah. However, the Lord hid them.

Now ¹  they wanted to arrest him (but they feared the crowd), because they realized that he told this parable against them. So ²  they left him and went away. ³ 

Two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the chief priests and the experts in the law ¹  were trying to find a way ²  to arrest Jesus ³  by stealth and kill him.

Then ¹  the experts in the law ²  and the chief priests wanted to arrest ³  him that very hour, because they realized he had told this parable against them. But ⁴  they were afraid of the people.

and here he has authority from the chief priests to imprison ¹  all who call on your name!” ²
