For they did not dare any longer to ask ¹  him anything.

On the seventh day some of the people went out to gather it, but they found nothing.

I did not send those prophets. Yet they were in a hurry to give their message. ¹  I did not tell them anything. Yet they prophesied anyway.

Though ¹  they found ²  no basis ³  for a death sentence, ⁴  they asked Pilate to have him executed.

Very soon they will say, “We have no king since we did not fear the Lord. But what can a king do for us anyway?”

So they said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus replied, ¹  “What I have told you from the beginning.

For I do not do the good I want, but I do the very evil I do not want!

that ¹  you must search out ²  my iniquity, and inquire about my sin,

He gave a command to the clouds above, and opened the doors in the sky.

So come on, let’s go ahead and attack it by night and destroy all its fortified buildings.’

The boy answered, ¹  ‘I will not.’ But later he had a change of heart ²  and went.

His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.” ¹ 

But this rabble ¹  who do not know the law are accursed!”

But I have this against you: You have departed ¹  from your first love!

David asked the men who were standing near him, “What will be done for the man who strikes down this Philistine and frees Israel from this humiliation? ¹  For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he defies the armies of the living God?”

Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I answer you, you will certainly kill me. ¹  If I give you advice, you will not listen to me.”

“What is mankind ¹  that you make so much of them, ²  and that you pay attention ³  to them?

You overpower him once for all, ¹  and he departs; you change ²  his appearance and send him away.

Concerning my right, should I lie? ¹  My wound ²  is incurable, although I am without transgression.’ ³
