Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. ¹ 

I said, ¹  ‘Listen, my people! I will warn ²  you! O Israel, if only you would obey me! ³ 

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, ¹  to acknowledge those who labor among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you,

And we urge you, brothers and sisters, ¹  admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.

I am not writing these things to shame you, but to correct you as my dear children.

But I myself am fully convinced about you, my brothers and sisters, ¹  that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.

Therefore be alert, ¹  remembering that night and day for three years I did not stop warning ²  each one of you with tears.

Let the word of Christ ¹  dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace ²  in your hearts to God.

In this way ¹  they will train ²  the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children,

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.

First of all, then, I urge that requests, ¹  prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people, ² 

Those guilty of sin ¹  must be rebuked ²  before all, ³  as a warning to the rest. ⁴ 

The Beloved to the Maidens: I admonish you, O maidens ¹  of Jerusalem: “Do not ²  arouse or awaken love until it pleases!”

Since considerable time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous ¹  because the fast ²  was already over, ³  Paul advised them, ⁴ 

These things happened to them as examples and were written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

As I urged you when I was leaving for Macedonia, stay on in Ephesus ¹  to instruct ²  certain people not to spread false teachings, ³ 

But exhort one another each day, as long as it is called “Today,” that none of you may become hardened by sin’s deception.

From heaven he spoke to you in order to teach you, and on earth he showed you his great fire from which you also heard his words. ¹ 

The Adjuration Refrain The Beloved to the Maidens: ¹ I admonish you, O maidens of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and by the young does of the open fields: “Do not awake or arouse love until it pleases!”

Finally then, brothers and sisters, ¹  we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about how ²  you must live and please God (as you are in fact living) ³  that you do so more and more.
