When his accusers stood up, they did not charge ¹  him with any of the evil deeds I had suspected. ² 

My accusers will be covered ¹  with shame, and draped in humiliation as if it were a robe.

he said, “I will give you a hearing ¹  when your accusers arrive too.” Then ²  he ordered that Paul ³  be kept under guard in Herod’s palace. ⁴ 

May the Lord repay my accusers in this way, ¹  those who say evil things about ²  me! ³ 

When I was informed ¹  there would be a plot ²  against this man, I sent him to you at once, also ordering his accusers to state their charges ³  against him before you.

I answered them ¹  that it was not the custom of the Romans to hand over anyone ²  before the accused had met his accusers face to face ³  and had been given ⁴  an opportunity to make a defense against the accusation. ⁵ 

Jesus stood up straight ¹  and said to her, “Woman, ²  where are they? Did no one condemn you?”

May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me ¹  be covered with scorn and disgrace!

I am disdained by them. ¹  When they see me, they shake their heads. ² 

When you examine ¹  him yourself, you will be able to learn from him ²  about all these things we are accusing him of doing.” ³ 

They repay my love with accusations, ¹  but I continue to pray. ² 

unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good,

The countries are assembled all around you; ¹  take once more your rightful place over them! ² 

Violent men perjure themselves, ¹  and falsely accuse me. ² 

Then I said, ¹  “Lord, pay attention to me. Listen to what my enemies are saying. ² 

You rescue me from a hostile army; ¹  you preserve me as a leader of nations; people over whom I had no authority are now my subjects. ²

How blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! They will not be put to shame ¹  when they confront ²  enemies at the city gate.

For I will give you the words ¹  along with the wisdom ²  that none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

They did not find me arguing ¹  with anyone or stirring up a crowd ²  in the temple courts ³  or in the synagogues ⁴  or throughout the city, ⁵
