The Lord my God says this: “Shepherd the flock set aside for slaughter.

“I will lead them off to be slaughtered like lambs, rams, and male goats.” ¹ 

Deliver those being taken away to death, and hold back those slipping to the slaughter. ¹ 

But you, Lord, know all about me. You watch me and test my devotion to you. ¹  Drag these wicked men away like sheep to be slaughtered! Appoint a time when they will be killed! ² 

Suddenly he went ¹  after her like an ox that goes to the slaughter, like a stag prancing into a trapper’s snare ² 

For the Lord is angry at all the nations and furious with all their armies. He will annihilate them and slaughter them.

So I, the Lord, say: ¹  “The time will soon come that people will no longer call this place Topheth or the Hinnom Valley. But they will call this valley ²  the Valley of Slaughter!
