These things happened in Bethany ¹  across the Jordan River ²  where John was baptizing.

explain ¹  to your children, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan River ²  on dry ground.’

So he went with them. When they arrived at the Jordan, they started cutting down trees.

The sea looked and fled; ¹  the Jordan River ²  turned back. ³ 

and he was baptizing them ¹  in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins.

Now when Barzillai the Gileadite had come down from Rogelim, he crossed the Jordan with the king so he could send him on his way from there. ¹

The Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh came to Geliloth near the Jordan in the land of Canaan and built there, near the Jordan, an impressive altar. ¹ 

¹ The Israelites traveled on ²  and camped in the plains of Moab on the side of the Jordan River ³  across from Jericho. ⁴ 

They traveled from the mountains of Abarim and camped in the plains of Moab by the Jordan River ¹  across from Jericho. ² 

They camped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth as far as Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.

The Lord spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho. He said:

“Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘When you have crossed the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

¹ Then the Lord spoke to Moses in the Moabite plains by the Jordan near Jericho. ²  He said:

“Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘When you cross over the Jordan River ¹  into the land of Canaan,

Look! The ark of the covenant of the Ruler ¹  of the whole earth is ready to enter the Jordan ahead of you.

Now Joshua set up in Gilgal the ¹  twelve stones they had taken from the Jordan.

It then descended from Janoah to Ataroth and Naarah, touched Jericho, ¹  and extended to the Jordan River. ²
