When Zebah and Zalmunna ran away, Gideon ¹  chased them and captured the two Midianite kings, Zebah and Zalmunna. He had surprised ²  their entire army.

Abimelech chased him, and Gaal ¹  ran from him. Many Shechemites ²  fell wounded at the entrance of the gate.

Among this army ¹  were seven hundred specially-trained left-handed soldiers. ²  Each one could sling a stone and hit even the smallest target. ³ 

The Benjaminites attacked from Gibeah and struck down twenty-two thousand Israelites that day. ¹ 

When the Israelites turned around, the Benjaminites panicked ¹  because they could see that disaster was on their doorstep. ² 

Even Saul went to his home in Gibeah. With him went some brave men whose hearts God had touched.

Praise the Lord, you angels of his, you powerful warriors who carry out his decrees and obey his orders! ¹ 

All of them are skilled with a sword, ¹  well-trained in the art of warfare. ²  Each has his sword at his side, to guard against the terrors of the night.
