This is the law ¹  for the burnt offering, the grain offering, ²  the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering, ³  and the peace offering sacrifice,

all that the Lord has commanded you by the authority ¹  of Moses, from the day that the Lord commanded Moses and continuing through your future generations –

That day Joshua drew up an agreement ¹  for the people, and he established rules and regulations ²  for them in Shechem.

Solomon demonstrated his loyalty to the Lord by following ¹  the practices ²  of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.

If you follow my instructions ¹  by obeying ²  my rules and regulations, just as your father David did, ³  then I will grant you long life.” ⁴ 

I will establish his kingdom permanently, if he remains committed to obeying my commands and regulations, as you are doing this day.’ ¹ 

but instead sought the God of his ancestors ¹  and obeyed ²  his commands, unlike the Israelites. ³ 

He is secure at all times. ¹  He has no regard for your commands; ²  he disdains all his enemies. ³ 

The commands to fear the Lord are right ¹  and endure forever. ²  The judgments given by the Lord are trustworthy and absolutely just. ³ 

Then they will place their confidence in God. They will not forget the works of God, and they will obey ¹  his commands.

Having heard everything, I have reached this conclusion: ¹  Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty ²  of man.

¹ The sin of Judah is engraved with an iron chisel on their stone-hard ²  hearts. It is inscribed with a diamond ³  point on the horns of their altars. ⁴ 

Tell them that the Lord says, ¹  ‘You must obey me! You must live according to the way I have instructed you in my laws. ² 

You have not kept charge of my holy things, but you have assigned foreigners ¹  to keep charge of my sanctuary for you.

They ¹  tie up heavy loads, hard to carry, and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing even to lift a finger to move them.

He also said to them, “You neatly reject the commandment of God in order to set up ¹  your tradition.

“The law and the prophets were in force ¹  until John; ²  since then, ³  the good news of the kingdom of God ⁴  has been proclaimed, and everyone is urged to enter it. ⁵ 

The Jewish leaders ¹  replied, ²  “We have a law, ³  and according to our law he ought to die, because he claimed to be the Son of God!” ⁴ 

And we are witnesses of these events, ¹  and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey ²  him.”

For Moses has had those who proclaim him in every town from ancient times, ¹  because he is read aloud ²  in the synagogues ³  every Sabbath.”
