The Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that my wonders ¹  may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”

If her father refuses to give her to him, he must pay money for the bride price of virgins.

Pour out your anger on the nations that do not acknowledge you, ¹  on the kingdoms that do not pray to you! ² 

Those who pass by will not say, ¹  “May you experience the Lord’s blessing! We pronounce a blessing on you in the name of the Lord.”

“How long will you simpletons ¹  love naiveté? ²  How long ³  will mockers ⁴  delight ⁵  in mockery ⁶  and fools ⁷  hate knowledge?

Jerusalem certainly stumbles, Judah falls, for their words and their actions offend the Lord; ¹  they rebel against his royal authority. ² 

The earth ¹  dries up ²  and withers, the world shrivels up and withers; the prominent people of the earth ³  fade away.

Certainly you will not refuse one of my master’s minor officials and trust in Egypt for chariots and horsemen. ¹
