If my footsteps have strayed from the way, if my heart has gone after my eyes, ¹  or if anything ²  has defiled my hands,

Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, ¹  the ends of the earth as your personal property.

“Look, here is the man who would not make ¹  God his protector! He trusted in his great wealth and was confident about his plans to destroy others.” ² 

Yet ¹  if he is caught ²  he must repay ³  seven times over, he might even have to give ⁴  all the wealth of his house.

There is only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery. They resort to violence and bloodshed. ¹ 

But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and get his inheritance!’

But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and the inheritance will be ours!’

and Joanna the wife of Cuza ¹  (Herod’s ²  household manager), ³  Susanna, and many others who provided for them ⁴  out of their own resources.

those with tears like those not weeping, those who rejoice like those not rejoicing, those who buy like those without possessions,

Now I mean that the heir, as long as he is a minor, ¹  is no different from a slave, though he is the owner ²  of everything.

In all cases of illegal possessions, ¹  whether for an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any kind of lost item, about which someone says ‘This belongs to me,’ ²  the matter of the two of them will come before the judges, ³  and the one whom ⁴  the judges declare guilty ⁵  must repay double to his neighbor.

The towns you will give must be from the possession of the Israelites. From the larger tribes you must give more; and from the smaller tribes fewer. Each must contribute some of its own towns to the Levites in proportion to the inheritance allocated to each.
