This is what she wrote: ¹  “Observe a time of fasting and seat Naboth in front of the people.

What more can David say ¹  to you? You have honored your servant; you have given your servant special recognition. ² 

(1:18) ¹  Solomon ordered a temple to be built to honor the Lord, as well as a royal palace for himself. ² 

They settled down in it and built in it a temple ¹  to honor you, ²  saying,

A psalm of David. Acknowledge the Lord, you heavenly beings, ²  acknowledge the Lord’s majesty and power! ³ 

Acknowledge the majesty of the Lord’s reputation! ¹  Worship the Lord in holy attire! ² 

Princesses ¹  are among your honored guests, ²  your bride ³  stands at your right hand, wearing jewelry made with gold from Ophir. ⁴ 

Then ¹  the king will be attracted by ²  your beauty. After all, he is your master! Submit ³  to him! ⁴ 

but, despite their wealth, people do not last, ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

Wealthy people do not understand; ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

Do not honor yourself before the king, and do not stand in the place of great men;

It is not good ¹  to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable for people to seek their own glory. ² 

She is clothed ¹  with strength ²  and honor, ³  and she can laugh ⁴  at the time ⁵  to come.

And who am I ¹  that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me?

He ¹  will glorify me, ²  because he will receive ³  from me what is mine ⁴  and will tell it to you. ⁵ 

So I have decided ¹  to build a temple to honor the Lord ²  my God, as the Lord instructed my father David, ‘Your son, whom I will put on your throne in your place, is the one who will build a temple to honor me.’ ³ 

After about two years his intestines came out because of the disease, so that he died a very painful death. ¹  His people did not make a bonfire to honor him, as they had done for his ancestors. ² 

God gives a man riches, property, and wealth so that he lacks nothing that his heart ¹  desires, ²  yet God does not enable ³  him to enjoy ⁴  the fruit of his labor ⁵  – instead, someone else ⁶  enjoys ⁷  it! ⁸  This is fruitless and a grave misfortune. ⁹ 

But the servant said to him, “Look, there is a man of God in this town. He is highly respected. Everything that he says really happens. ¹  Now let’s go there. Perhaps he will tell us where we should go from here.” ² 

He was buried in the tomb he had carved out in the City of David. ¹  They laid him to rest on a bier covered with spices and assorted mixtures of ointments. They made a huge bonfire to honor him. ²
