“If you encounter ¹  your enemy’s ox or donkey wandering off, you must by all means return ²  it to him.

You must not oppress your neighbor or commit robbery against him. ¹  You must not withhold ²  the wages of the hired laborer overnight until morning.

When David ¹  had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan and David became bound together in close friendship. ²  Jonathan loved David as much as he did his own life. ³

The one who increases his wealth by increasing interest ¹  gathers it for someone who is gracious ²  to the needy.

For if they fall, one will help his companion up, but pity ¹  the person who falls down and has no one to help him up.

So then, if you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother and then come and present your gift.

Why ¹  do you see the speck ²  in your brother’s eye, but fail to see ³  the beam of wood ⁴  in your own?

You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
