Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, and kneeling down she asked him for a favor. ¹ 

A crowd was sitting around him and they said to him, “Look, your mother and your brothers ¹  are outside looking for you.”

He brought his head on a platter and gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother.

There were also women, watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, ¹  and Salome.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought aromatic spices ¹  so that they might go and anoint him.

Then ¹  he went down with them and came to Nazareth, ²  and was obedient ³  to them. But ⁴  his mother kept all these things ⁵  in her heart. ⁶ 

But he replied ¹  to them, “My mother and my brothers are those ²  who hear the word of God and do it.” ³ 

You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’” ¹ 

Now it was Mary Magdalene, ¹  Joanna, ²  Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles.

After this he went down to Capernaum ¹  with his mother and brothers ²  and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers. ¹ 

When Peter ¹  realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, ²  where many people had gathered together and were praying.

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become ¹  one flesh. ² 

On ¹  her forehead was written a name, a mystery: ²  “Babylon the Great, the Mother of prostitutes and of the detestable things of the earth.”

My own brothers treat me like a stranger; they act as if I were a foreigner. ¹ 

¹  although we could have imposed our weight as apostles of Christ; instead we became ²  little children ³  among you. Like a nursing mother caring for her own children,

There is a generation ¹  who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers. ² 

What’s more, ¹  she is indeed my sister, my father’s daughter, but not my mother’s daughter. She became my wife.

So his mother told him, “Any curse against you will fall on me, ¹  my son! Just obey me! ²  Go and get them for me!”

Do not let her be like a baby born dead, whose flesh is half-consumed when it comes out of its ¹  mother’s womb!”
