who delivers ¹  your life from the Pit, ²  who crowns you with his loyal love and compassion,

I say to the Lord, “You are my God.” O Lord, pay attention to my plea for mercy!

I will have no pity on her children, ¹  because they are children conceived in adultery. ² 

And the Lord ¹  said, “I will make all my goodness ²  pass before your face, and I will proclaim the Lord by name ³  before you; I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy.” ⁴ 

May the sovereign God ¹  grant you mercy before the man so that he may release ²  your other brother ³  and Benjamin! As for me, if I lose my children I lose them.” ⁴ 

and he ¹  delivers them over to you and you attack them, you must utterly annihilate ²  them. Make no treaty ³  with them and show them no mercy!

for the Lord determined to make them obstinate so they would attack Israel. He wanted Israel to annihilate them without mercy, as he had instructed Moses. ¹ 

Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress, ¹  so my eyes will look to the Lord, our God, until he shows us favor.

“Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: Now I will restore ¹  the fortunes of Jacob, and I will have mercy on the entire house of Israel. I will be zealous for my holy name.

She conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the Lord ¹  said to him, “Name her ‘No Pity’ (Lo-Ruhamah) because I will no longer have pity ²  on the nation ³  of Israel. For ⁴  I will certainly not forgive ⁵  their guilt. ⁶ 

Assyria cannot save us; we will not ride warhorses. We will never again say, ‘Our gods’ to what our own hands have made. For only you will show compassion to Orphan Israel!” ¹ 

“You are to make an atonement lid ¹  of pure gold; ²  its length is to be three feet nine inches, and its width is to be two feet three inches.

You are to put the atonement lid on top of the ark, and in the ark you are to put the testimony I am giving you.

He made ¹  an atonement lid of pure gold; its length was three feet nine inches, and its width was two feet three inches.

one cherub on one end ¹  and one cherub on the other end. ²  He made the cherubim from the atonement lid on its two ends.

He took the testimony and put it in the ark, attached the poles to the ark, and then put the atonement lid on the ark.

However, due to your abundant mercy you did not do away with them altogether; you did not abandon them. For you are a merciful and compassionate God.

Surely your goodness and faithfulness ¹  will pursue ²  me all my days, ³  and I will live in ⁴  the Lord’s house ⁵  for the rest of my life. ⁶ 

Have mercy on me, for I am in distress! My eyes grow dim ¹  from suffering. ²  I have lost my strength. ³
