he is conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest in controversies and verbal disputes. This gives rise to envy, dissension, slanders, evil suspicions,

For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. So this one too had to have something to offer.

They served only for matters of food and drink ¹  and various washings; they are external regulations ²  imposed until the new order came. ³ 

And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, ¹  for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another ¹  as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

besides what he collected from the merchants ¹  and traders. All the Arabian kings and the governors of the land also brought gold and silver to Solomon.
