We will give you our consent on this one condition: You must become ¹  like us by circumcising ²  all your males.

These are the ones that are unclean to you among all the swarming things. Anyone who touches them when they die will be unclean until evening.

As for any clay vessel they fall into, ¹  everything in it ²  will become unclean and you must break it.

However, a spring or a cistern which collects water ¹  will be clean, but one who touches their carcass will be unclean.

but if water is put on the seed and such a carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

“‘Now if an animal ¹  that you may eat dies, ²  whoever touches its carcass will be unclean until the evening.

and anyone who touches them will be unclean, and he must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. ¹ 

This is the law of the one with a discharge: the one who has a seminal emission ¹  and becomes unclean by it, ² 

If a daughter of a priest profanes herself by engaging in prostitution, she is profaning her father. She must be burned to death. ¹ 

“‘This is the law for cases of jealousy, ¹  when a wife, while under her husband’s authority, goes astray and defiles herself,

But the eyes of the wicked fail, ¹  and escape ²  eludes them; their one hope ³  is to breathe their last.” ⁴ 

Their grave becomes their permanent residence, their eternal dwelling place. ¹  They name their lands after themselves, ² 

Whoever brings a fool ¹  into the world ²  does so ³  to his grief, and the father of a fool has no joy. ⁴ 

Like one who grabs a wild dog by the ears, ¹  so is the person passing by who becomes furious ²  over a quarrel not his own.

Take a man’s ¹  garment when he has given security for a stranger, and when he gives surety for a stranger, ²  hold him in pledge. ³ 

The fear of people ¹  becomes ²  a snare, ³  but whoever trusts in the Lord will be set on high. ⁴ 

Then that wealth was lost through bad luck; ¹  although he fathered a son, he has nothing left to give him. ² 

Until the dawn arrives ¹  and the shadows flee, I will go up to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.

They hatch the eggs of a poisonous snake and spin a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die, a poisonous snake is hatched. ¹ 

Indeed, the residents of Maroth ¹  hope for something good to happen, ²  though the Lord has sent disaster against the city of Jerusalem. ³
