Do you believe the prophets, ¹  King Agrippa? ²  I know that you believe.”

Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

For such people are false apostles, deceitful ¹  workers, disguising themselves ²  as apostles of Christ.

I have not taken advantage of you through anyone I have sent to you, have I? ¹ 

But I saw none of the other apostles ¹  except James the Lord’s brother.

Afterward King Sennacherib of Assyria, while attacking Lachish with all his military might, sent his messengers ¹  to Jerusalem. The message was for King Hezekiah of Judah and all the people of ²  Judah who were in Jerusalem. It read:

Mordecai ¹  wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed it with the king’s signet ring. He then sent letters by couriers on horses, who rode royal horses that were very swift.

At that time Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been ill and had recovered.

“They even sent for men from far away; when the messenger arrived, those men set out. ¹  For them you bathed, ²  painted your eyes, and decorated yourself with jewelry.

So they sent word ¹  to Joseph, saying, “Your father gave these instructions before he died:

So David’s servants went on their way. When they had returned, they came and told David ¹  all these things.

Ahab sent messengers to all the Israelites and had the prophets assemble at Mount Carmel.

His raging anger lashed out against them, ¹  He sent fury, rage, and trouble as messengers who bring disaster. ² 

When ¹  morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles: ² 

Then ¹  they cast lots for them, and the one chosen was Matthias; ²  so he was counted with the eleven apostles. ³ 

Reverential awe ¹  came over everyone, ²  and many wonders and miraculous signs ³  came about by the apostles.

and placing them at the apostles’ feet. The proceeds ¹  were distributed to each, as anyone had need.

Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all perform miracles, do they?

For we do not proclaim ¹  ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves ²  for Jesus’ sake.

But you, dear friends – recall the predictions ¹  foretold by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. ²
