The governor ¹  instructed them not to eat any of the sacred food until there was a priest who could consult ²  the Urim and Thummim.

When Mordecai learned of the conspiracy, ¹  he informed Queen Esther, ²  and Esther told the king in Mordecai’s behalf. ³ 

All this ¹  monotony ²  is tiresome; no one can bear ³  to describe it: ⁴  The eye is never satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear ever content ⁵  with hearing.

Next I noticed the man dressed in linen with the writing kit at his side bringing back word: “I have done just as you commanded me.”

But if he does not listen, take one or two others with you, so that at the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. ¹ 

And the king ¹  said to him, ‘Well done, good slave! Because you have been faithful ²  in a very small matter, you will have authority ³  over ten cities.’

For I do not say this so there would be relief for others and suffering for you, but as a matter of equality.

So too the tongue is a small part of the body, ¹  yet it has great pretensions. ²  Think ³  how small a flame sets a huge forest ablaze.

Then Shechem’s father Hamor went to speak with Jacob about Dinah. ¹ 

If a matter is too difficult for you to judge – bloodshed, ¹  legal claim, ²  or assault ³  – matters of controversy in your villages ⁴  – you must leave there and go up to the place the Lord your God chooses. ⁵ 

So all the elders of Israel gathered together and approached Samuel at Ramah.

May the Lord forgive your servant for this one thing: When my master enters the temple of Rimmon to worship, and he leans on my arm and I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the Lord forgive your servant for this.” ¹ 

The proposal seemed appropriate to ¹  the king and the entire assembly.

So when the envoys arrived from the Babylonian officials to visit him and inquire about the sign that occurred in the land, ¹  God left him alone to test him, in order to know his true motives. ² 

So we fasted and prayed to our God about this, and he answered us.

They press out the olive oil between the rows of olive trees; ¹  they tread the winepresses while they are thirsty. ² 

that does not respond to ¹  the magicians, or to a skilled snake-charmer.

The Lord values the lives of his faithful followers. ¹ 

I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are beyond full comprehension. ¹ 

There is no wisdom and there is no understanding, and there is no counsel against ¹  the Lord. ²
