then let thorns sprout up in place of wheat, and in place of barley, weeds!” ¹  The words of Job are ended.

So these three men refused to answer ²  Job further, because he was righteous in his ³  own eyes.

When you see a thief, you join him; ¹  you associate with men who are unfaithful to their wives. ² 

May their dining table become a trap before them! May it be a snare for that group of friends! ¹ 

And all those who knew Jesus ¹  stood at a distance, and the women who had followed him from Galilee saw ²  these things.

So Jesus said to them, “Children, you don’t have any fish, ¹  do you?” ²  They replied, ³  “No.”

Therefore, brothers and sisters, ¹  since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,

Everyone must be on his guard around his friends. He must not even trust any of his relatives. ¹  For every one of them will find some way to cheat him. ²  And all of his friends will tell lies about him.

What will you say ¹  when the Lord ²  appoints as rulers over you those allies that you, yourself, had actually prepared as such? ³  Then anguish and agony will grip you like that of a woman giving birth to a baby. ⁴ 

Have you been thinking all this time ¹  that we have been defending ourselves to you? We are speaking in Christ before God, and everything we do, dear friends, is to build you up. ² 

He ¹  does not slander, ²  or do harm to others, ³  or insult his neighbor. ⁴ 

“I thought, ‘I will no longer see the Lord ¹  in the land of the living, I will no longer look on humankind with the inhabitants of the world. ² 

Mourn for that nation, all you nations living around it, all of you nations that know of its fame. ¹  Mourn and say, ‘Alas, its powerful influence has been broken! Its glory and power have been done away!’ ² 

So ¹  Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guests ²  fast while the bridegroom ³  is with them, can you? ⁴ 

But carefully select from among you, brothers, ¹  seven ²  men who are well-attested, ³  full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge ⁴  of this necessary task. ⁵ 

At that time ¹  she became sick ²  and died. When they had washed ³  her body, ⁴  they placed it in an upstairs room.

They sent this letter with them: ¹  From the apostles ²  and elders, your brothers, ³  to the Gentile brothers and sisters ⁴  in Antioch, ⁵  Syria, ⁶  and Cilicia, greetings!

I beg you, brothers and sisters, ¹  become like me, because I have become like you. You have done me no wrong!

Everyone with me greets you. Greet those who love us in the faith. ¹  Grace be with you all. ² 

So ¹  they are astonished ²  when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you. ³
